Many years ago Ruud developed a passion for drawing and painting. At first he was drawing figures playing the double bass. These could be human, but he also drew many animals playing the instrument.

About 15 years ago he painted his first chicken. It turned out to be a Rooster and this was the start of the “Remarkable Rooster” project. Today, Ruud has made at least 30 different rooster paintings and he is still full of ideas for more!

He uses the traditional technique of the great masters: several thin layers of oil paint on top of each other. This is a time consuming technique, that takes a lot of patience. It can take several months to finish one single painting.
